Lab is long but its definetly required, my TA took a full 10% if you didn't show up for that week. While studying from the NCERT Geography textbook Contemporary India I, you might find that there are many topics that you need to memorise.
Scoring marks in Geography is not so difficult if you understand the topics and are able to retain the information. The course was set up like this:ġ/3 Lab (which was just participation and a group project) Geography is a subpart of the Class 9 Social Science subject. But overall the reading was pretty unnecessary. The final was more difficult, but in no wayyyy hard. The midterm was super easy, the only hard part was drawing a map but you got like 3 weeks to practice. I would say that the book is worth it because both the midterm and the final have questions that come only from the book, and not from the lecture. The class was super easy to follow, the textbook could be found online too. He loves pointing at people so if you hate that sit near the back or the sides. The LA Social Science e-Forum showcases the vibrant and cutting-edge knowledge generated within the Division of Social Sciences. The class is big but he really gets everyone involved. Professor Gillespie is such a character! He made this class so great I actually looked forward to going to lecture, which is out of the norm for me. Professor Gillespie often admits that this is one of the easiest classes at UCLA, and hes absolutely correct. I got bailed by not taking the final because I think I would have gotten a B+ on it and maybe ended with an A- instead of an A for my final grade. The lab portion of the grade is an easy A as long as you participate at least once per discussion, do the bare minimum on the group project, and you do the 2-3 worksheets assigned throughout the quarter. On the midterm, I got a 92% and the mean was 85%, so I already knew I was on track for an A. You need to memorize a sizeable amount of information, but it is pure memorization. This class is an easy A if you do your part.
